The EQUUS Foundation’s Safe Landings program makes that transition easier by bringing together horse owners, rescues, transition centers, and EQUUS Foundation Guardian charities that are actively seeking program horses.Safe Landings is designed for horses who may be ready for a new purpose and for organizations that rely on suitable horses to support equine-assisted services, education, community outreach, and other meaningful programs. By bringing both sides together in one nationwide network, the program creates opportunities for thoughtful matches that can benefit horses and the people they serve. For owners and caretakers, Safe Landings offers a responsible place to begin exploring options when circumstances change, a horse needs a different job, or long-term care is no longer possible. Each participating charity determines what type of horse is appropriate for its programs, helping ensure that potential placements are considered carefully and responsibly. There are currently 37 EQUUS Foundation Guardian charities seeking program horses in states across the country.
